Deck Painting
My dear husband built us a nice little deck in the only really shady spot on our property. Of course I had to paint it! Now, the only thing anyone notices is the "rug" on our new deck!
I used acrylic craft paints then sprayed it with a matte sealer. We'll see how it fares. I can always paint a new rug next year!
Update: Don't use treated lumber, the paint does not adhere well. It still looks OK, but it is peeling off here and there.
Update#2: So, after 2 years, (covered over winter) it was looking a little worse for wear. I spent a sunny spring day repainting pretty much the whole thing (5 hours worth.) I didn't spray the sealer on it because I wanted it to be totally dry. Oh, about 9:00 pm, while relaxing in my PJ's, I heard the rumble of thunder. I ran out and sprayed a quick coat of sealant on it. The next morning, I went to take a look, only to find that I had grabbed the black spray paint instead of the clear. As you can imagine, I said, "Oh darn." Luckily it was just a light coat, so it mostly looks just dirty with a few black splotches. I'm moving on for this summer, we'll see how I feel next spring!
